1. Security of citizens' personal information is of utmost importance to the Government of Punjab. On the PAWAN Portal, your data and personal information is secured with the best-in-class security standards.
2. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and to ensure appropriate use of the information, the PAWAN portal has put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the personal information of the user collected on the PAWAN Portal. Following are some of the security mechanisms being followed to safeguard the content:
2.1 Login IDs and strong Passwords
Only the user can access his PAWAN Portal account through a valid Login ID and Password provided to him during registration. PAWAN Portal requires strong passwords that includes uppercase, lowercase, numeric, and non-alphanumeric characters. Please keep your Login ID and password information secure and do not share it with anyone.
2.2 Strong data encryption
For the PAWAN Portal, we use Secure Sockets Layer ('SSL') technology to encrypt information exchange. Unlike normal Internet communication, information provided to us on the PAWAN Portal is sent in a "secure session" established with SSL. SSL is a security protocol that provides data encryption, server authentication, and message integrity for a connection to the Internet. SSL never allows the information you exchange with the PAWAN Portal to transmit without encryption over the Internet, and therefore, it cannot be viewed by any unauthorized individuals. This encryption is done using 128-bit encryption, which is the maximum level of encryption possible on the Internet and is comparable to the security levels used by financial institutions. It is in your interest that you end your browser session before leaving your computer.
2.3 Safe data storage and Access control
Users' data resides safely in the PAWAN Portal Database and is protected by a firewall. The firewall is configured to receive and process requests only from authorized personnel. Further, some of the highly critical information such as password, bank details, etc are stored in the database in an encrypted format, thereby preventing any misuse of data.
We take regular back-ups of the data so that appropriate recovery measures can be initiated, in case of any data loss.
